Someone call the WAHmbulance

No Sympathy
Children without lunch money are given cheese sandwich, a carton of milk, and a piece of fruit

Parents are complaining about their kids getting those three items, and one kid claims the "indignity" of eating cheese sandwiches makes her sick.

I'm sorry, but CRY MOAR, why don't ya. That sounds like a prototypical grade-school lunch to me. That's what I ate pretty much up until...fuck, senior year. There are people at my college who STILL eat that. Hell, I'm eating a peanut butter sandwich with an apple and a coke right now, and I'm 19 years old.

Wow, we're fucking spoiled if the kids are upset that this is what they're getting...and for free, too. I went to schools where if you couldn't pay you didn't eat at all unless you could beg some food off your friends. There are kids in Asia who get only get to eat once a day, if that. Shut the fuck up and be grateful for what you're getting.

Dude, does no one see the irony?

Here's my take on Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: everybody in the region needs to GROW THE FUCK UP. Stop being twats and firing missiles at each other; you've been singing that tune for decades and you should know by now that it's not going to work. What's the definiton if insanity again? "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?"

See, this is what happens when you have a complete lack of empathy. From an outsider's POV, I can sympathize with both sides. Jews have paranoia practically bred into them, and with good reason. The only reason Israel exists is because of the Holocaust. But Europe in the post-war days was comprised of fucktards who gave the people who had lost everything free rein to take whatever they wanted from a place where other people were living. Of course they went and grabbed whatever they could and became determined to hold onto it no matter what.

So we have paranoia on one side and victimhood on the other. Swell.

What is needed now is for the Israelis and the Palestinians to try and understand each other. Israel should go, "Hey, we took your land and property and that was not cool; our bad" and Palestine should go, "Yeah, that sucked, but we realize you thought you had nowhere else to go after WWII and got a little crazy because you were scared". And then they'd get rid of the border altogether and rename the country Palisraelistine. Catchy, no? But that would require the countries' leaders to fully comprehend that not everyone is going to agree with them all the time. I realize that's too hard for them. After all, they're not some 19-year-old shmuck in her pajamas from New Jersey who makes LJ posts at obscene hours of the morning.

Can we sit Hamas and whoever-the-hell-runs-Israel down and make them watch "Gundam Wing" over and over again? Please?

Mmm...

The boycott is a little misguided, considering there are Mormons all over the world. And I know a few Mormons who were lovely, non-homophobic people the last time I checked. And it really isn't cool to harrass people outside their places of worship. Dude. Just, no.

I'd think a more effective way to send a message would be a mass exodus of GLBT+Allies from the state. Sort of a "fuck if we'll be tax dollars to you any longer" message. Florida and California are really going to pay for this in the area of tourism, anyway.

Oh, Iowa

Sure enough, they fucked it up.

No more SSM applications will be accepted

Well, at least that one couple got their license in time, and no matter what happens with the law after this, they will be married until death or divorce. So congratulation, Sean and Tim.

It's very funny to hear Romney bitch about judges overring the population's will. Newsflash, Romney: JUDGES HAVE ALWAYS MADE LAWS THAT THE PEOPLE DIDN'T LIKE. Like integration. And abortion (which I'm against, but you don't see me bitching and moaning about judges who are DOING THEIR JOB). Crack open a damn civics book. I can't believe he's running for president.

Yet at the same time, Kansas is enacting anti-discrimination laws for the first time in for-fucking-ever. Took 'em long enough.

Sigh. I really should move to Canada.
