My Kitty died.
...
I don't wanna go into it.
...
On the upcoming movie, "Blood and Chocolate".
Three years ago my friend Melissa got me the book. And to be completely honest...
I HATED IT.
The woman cannot write good endings to save her life (see "The Silver Kiss" for reference). What I disliked most about it is that she spent the whole book highlighting how isolated the pack is, saying how OMG DEPRESSING it is that they're alone. Leading you to think that the boyfriend will prove himself not to be a total scumbag, right?
Wrong.
Instead, Miss Main Character runs off with Gabriel, a member of the pack, because her boyfriend doesn't have the stones to get over himself.
Absolutely no lesson was taught.
Absolutely no change was put into motion.
You walk away from the book feeling as unfulfilled as when you picked it up.
I always read something expecting to be enriched by it, or at least entertained. Which is why I love reading manga. Look at the morals of the stories I read:
"Yami no Matsuei" - There's always someone who loves you
"Chrono Crusade" - Carpe diem
"Demon Diary" - Realize your potential
"Fruits Basket" - Accept yourself
"Petshop of Horrors" - Think about the consequences of your actions
"Rurouni Kenshin" - Find your truth and live for it
"Gundam Wing" - Communication is the key to peace
"Revolutionary Girl Utena" - Follow your dreams
What did I get out of "Blood and Chocolate"? Humans suck and...that's about it. She basically wrote a story about how nothing changes, so we should all marry within our clan. Great lesson. "Silver Kiss" might have had a horrible ending, but at least it had a message.
